*Psst...though I don't keep an updated journal there, you can also find me on MySpace*
I'm just a little lost chickadee from beautiful California, who misses tall pine trees, misty oceans, neat old Victorian houses, and rocky mountains. I love long showers, drawing to old records, reading outside on the porch when it rains, singing to my daughter, playing barefoot in creekbeds, looking back at old photographs and letters, and trying new things when nobody's looking.
I care way too much about movies, music, art, books, games, and other means of entertainment and expression. Some of my favorite movies are listed below. I usually go for fantasy, a little sci-fi, a lot of black comedies, a few well-done dramas that are heavier on cold reality than they are on the sappy teary stuff. Also, I love all the good old childhood flights-of-fancy movies that fed my imagination long ago. Additionally, I'm fond of suspense... Hitchcock, Brian DePalma, etc. Oh, and any time a director bends the element of time within his/her film for purpose of story or effect.
Some favorites:
The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, The Wizard of Oz, The Return to Oz, Hook, Labyrinth, Legend, The Dark Crystal, all the original Muppet movies, The Neverending Story, The Lost Boys, Heathers, Jawbreaker, Napoleon Dynamite, The Rules of Attraction, The Shape of Things, Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet, Summer of Sam, Pulp Fiction, American Beauty, Ghost World, Hairspray, Cecil B. Demented, But I'm a Cheerleader, A Clockwork Orange, Down With Love, Fight Club, The Witches of Eastwick, Dr. Strangelove, The Shining, Poltergeist, Dark City, The Matrix, The Exorcist, Hero, Kung Fu Hustle, Amelie, City of Lost Children, The Ice Storm, Night of The Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, As Good As It Gets, Life Is Beautiful, Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Resident Evil, Pillow Talk, It Happened One Night, Notorious, Marnie, Vertigo, Carrie.
What gets me goin' in a good way:
Ranma 1/2! Tim Burton, old-time radio shows (suspense/mystery/horror series to try: "I Love a Mystery," Suspense," "Inner Sanctum"), vinyl records with snazzy jackets, both classic old Hollywood and indie films alike. Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper, Peanut M&M's, kitties, frogs! The Muppets, Space Channel 5!!! World of Warcraft, City of Heroes, EverQuest, '80s/New Wave/alt rock, Cake, The Pixies, Modest Mouse, The Cure, and yeah, The Cranberries still tug on my heartstrings; NES games (those 8-bit cartridges still rock my little world), fishnet stockings, Jose Cuervo, computer geeks, artists, coffeehouses with character, film buffs, vampire lore, people who BELIEVE in something and live by it, documentaries, A&E Biography, eyeliner on boyz (yum!), the smell of the air after a good rain, lightning storms, vanilla candles, strawberry margaritas, anything coconut scented/flavored, and cute smart chicks.
